Fire permit requirement for new construction or build out.

Almost all commercial buildings and new build out need to have fire sprinkler and fire alarm permit.

First step to find you AHJ

The "Authority Having Jurisdiction" — AHJ — is the entity enforcing fire code at your building. Usually,
The local fire marshal's office for incorporated cities
The county fire marshal or SFMO for unincorporated areas
The state agency for certain institutional occupancies (state-owned buildings, certain schools, certain healthcare facilities)
The insurance carrier, in practice, for buildings whose carrier imposes requirements stricter than code

Fire Sprinkler

Only licensed fire sprinkler contractor can design, install and service on fire sprinkler system.

Licensed RME-G have to design and stamp drawing and submit plans to fire marshal office. All sprinkler design shoud be as per NFPA 13.

Once plans and permit are approved, any work can be commenced.

Licensed RME-G have to do final inspection with fire marshal.

Fire Alarm

Only Licensed fire alarm company can design, install and service on fire alarm system.

Licensed APS can only design fire alarm plans, fire alarm drawing should be as per NFPA 72.

Plans need to be submitted to fire marshal's office for review.

Before commencing any site work, contractor need to have approved permit on site.

Finally, call for final inspection with fire marshal.
